Sometimes I get concerned that the treats I feed my dogs are the equivalent of giving kids french fries and cokes. The kids love it, they taste great - but there is no redeeming nutritional value.

So, I was delighted when I discovered that Greenies are not only a VERY SPECIAL dog treats, but they also clean their teeth, freshen their breathe, and contain protein and not much fat. The toothbrush shape is a bit much - but the dogs do not seem to be put off. The only down side is the cost for big babies like mine. But then, they are my babies aren’t they?

Greenies are made by, what else, Greenies Inc. They are available at all major pet supply stores. Greenies were not subject to the recent pet food recalls as all their ingredients are grown in the United States.

Greenies offers chews, biscuits, and pill pockets - which are a super easy way to sneak a pill into a desirable dog treat. They even have a feline Greenie, but I have not tried that yet.
