Doberman Rescue
Probably due to the astronomical numbers of animals in need of assistance, rescue groups catering to this or that breed have popped up all over the place. This one just happens to be dedicated to the Doberman Pinscher, a majestic breed that has been delighting dog lovers for a long time.
"All colors accepted", it says on the website. Apparently, there are about five Doberman colors, including black, red, fawn, gray and white or albino.
If you go to their site you can see photographs of the dogs they have up for adoption, as well as some of the dogs they have already found homes for, including a male/female pair of albinos.
Many of these dogs, like Sunny, the adopted 9-month-old red male, even have their ears and tail intact. (Whenever you see a Doberman with pointed ears, that means they have gone through painful and completely unnecessary cosmetic surgery.)
One cute pair for whom the group found homes were a four-month-old male and female found exposed to the elements. The pair had frostbite and were covered in livestock manure, but survived and found a good home.
The group even managed to find out where rescue dog Sidney belonged and return him to his family.
Even though members of a breed such as the Doberman Pinscher tend to look very much alike, you can see the various personality traits in the dogs pictured on this site. You can tell by the way Maddie huddles in her bed that she likes things cozy and safe, while Vlad, standing at attention with his bowl in his mouth, is a big fan of dinnertime. Maggie looks like a submissive little thing, while Cydney and her friend are both alert and majestic, and bear a striking resemblance to the Egyptian god Anubis.
